Everything you need to know about OnePlus 6 before buying

OnePlus 6 is the new #FlagshipKiller smartphone launched by OnePlus last week with new glass design, improved camera & increased price. The device goes on sale today exclusively via Amazon & OnePlus official website. The OnePlus 6 will be available in 3 variants, 6GB + 64GB, 8GB + 128GB and Special Avengers Edition comes with 8GB RAM & 256GB internal Storage. Let’s have a look at specifications first.

Design

The OnePlus 6 has a larger 6.28-inch 19:9 display with notch compare to OnePlus 5T, but the company opted for the just FullHD+ resolution (2280 x 1080) despite being the Flagship device. The new OnePlus 6 introduces a new design with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 at both front & back which attracts smudges easily. The device comes in 3 colours, Mirror Black, Midnight Black and Silk White (goes on sale after 15 days). The Avengers Edition also comes with same Mirror Glass glossy finish with Carbon Fiber pattern underneath. On the left side, there are volume control buttons & dual sim tray. The power button sits on the right along with the alert slider. At the bottom, there’s the 3.5mm headphone jack, a Type-C USB 2.0 port, and a loudspeaker. There’s no word about IP certification (water & dust resistant), but the company claims the OnePlus 6 has been designed to be water-resistant for “everyday occasions, such as rain or an accidental drop in a puddle, rather than for extreme scenarios”.

Hardware & Software

The OnePlus 6 is powered by Octa-core Snapdragon 845 (4 x 2.8GHz + 4 x 1.7GHz) with Adreno 630 GPU. The smartphone comes with 6GB or 8GB RAM along with 64GB, 128GB or 258GB internal storage without microSD Card support. The OnePlus 6 runs on Oxygen OS based on Android Oreo which gives almost stock Android experience.

Camera

The OnePlus 6 has Dual Camera setup at the back, a 16-megapixel (Sony IMX 519) primary sensor with 1.22 µm pixel size, f/1.7 aperture and a 20-megapixel (Sony IMX 376K) secondary sensor with  1.0 µm pixel size, f/1.7 aperture. The primary camera also supports OIS & EIS. The Front camera features 16-megapixel Sony IMX 371 sensor with 1.0 µm pixel size and f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also supports EIS. The rear camera can shoot videos up to 4K resolution at 60 fps and Super Slow Motion 1080p videos at 240 fps. Other camera features include Portrait, Pro Mode, Panorama, HDR, HQ, Dynamic Denoise, Clear Image and RAW Image.

Connectivity

On the connectivity front, the dual sim device supports 4G VoLTE on both the sim at a time. There’s USB Type-C port with Dash charging support & file transfer. Other connectivity features include Dual Band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC & GPS

The OnePlus 6 goes on sale from 21st May on Amazon as well as on OnePlus online store priced at Rs.34999 for 6GB + 64GB, Rs.39999 for 8GB + 128GB variant. The Special Avengers Edition with 8GB RAM & 256GB storage is priced at Rs.44999 and it will be available in limited quantity starting next week.
