Xiaomi launched Redmi Note 3 back in November last year with MediaTek Helio X10 processor and Full Metal body design. Today company has announced another variant of the Redmi Note 3 with a couple of improvements including Snapdragon 650. Xiaomi has started Explorers Contest in India, where 100 miFans will be chosen to experience the device before India launch.
Talking about the specifications, the metal body device comes with 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display. It is powered by 64-bit Hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor (integrated X8 LTE with Cat 7 and VoLTE support) clocked at 1.8 GHz (4 X 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 + 2 X 1.8 GHz Cortex-A72) paired with Adreno 510 GPU. The smartphone will be available in two storage variants – 16GB storage with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage with 3GB RAM, sadly there is no memory expansion slot.
One more improvement in specifications compare to MTK variant is that SD variant has 16-megapixel autofocus rear camera (compare to 13-megapixel) with f/2.0 aperture, dual tone LED flash and 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. Both cameras can record videos in Full HD 1080p though the Snapdragon 650 processor has support for 4K recording, Xiaomi skipped including the feature but the rear camera can shoot slow motion videos at 120 fps. The Redmi Note 3 is running on the MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
